Hyde Vineyards History

1979 marks the birth of Hyde Vineyards. It is a family venture which has been managed by Larry Hyde from its inception, and now has become one of the best vineyards in California. Sort of a California “grand cru”. It is located at the gateway to the beautiful Napa Valley in the region of Carneros, on the Napa side. The vineyard consists of 150 planted acres of such varieties as chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, and syrah. It is sustainably and organically farmed with respect for the environment. What it means is that we kept the riperian growth of native trees along the creek which provides a habitat for different birds, like owls, kites, hawks, which are beneficial in rodent control. Cover crops provide beneficial insects to combat pests that attack vineyards. Weeds are either burnt or mechanically tilled. The vineyard is minimally watered with many blocks dry-farmed.
