Hyde Vineyards History

Founded in 1979, as a family venture, Hyde Vineyards was planted and managed by Larry Hyde. At that time the area in Carneros was still considered a pioneer land, with Renee diRosa's Winery Lake, and Frank Mahoney's Carneros Creek, among the best. There was also some merlot and cabernet planted as well. Larry decided to do his own thing and specialize in old California selections. The original vineyard had also some spacing experiments, until the replanting after philloxera, when he got another chance to improve. Hyde Vineyards is synonymous with high quality and labor of love. It's also about caring about the land and the people. From the original crew, we still have the same foreman, Jose Padilla, and a married couple, Ignacio and Maria Franco, who drive tractors during harvests.
